Lactips
/ About us

A DNA of science and environmental ethics

Microplastics have made their way into our rivers, our soil and even into our bodies, posing a serious threat to all living things. At Lactips, we are working hard every day to address this threat to our environment and to future generations. How? By developing innovative, environmentally-friendly solutions that help promote a societal transition to a world free of microplastic pollution.

Our objective: to lead a society-wide ecological transition

We actively assist manufacturers, producers and marketers by offering them a high-performance alternative to conventional fossil-based plastics. Through our expertise, dynamic approach to innovation and support, we are helping them to use materials that are both environmentally friendly and effective.

Our values: a shared commitment to create a greener world

  • Pioneering innovation: we are constantly reinventing ourselves in order to develop environmentally-friendly, biodegradable solutions. We are pioneers, blazing a trail for a new generation of materials.
  • Collective commitment: this transition is a challenge facing us all. Everyone has a vital role to play. Together, we are working to build a future that is inclusive and non-toxic.
  • A more environmentally-friendly world: we are working in partnership to reduce the environmental footprint of our products so that we can ensure that future generations can enjoy a healthy, vibrant planet.
  • Quality and excellence: our products are useful, effective and respectful of the environment. Our commitment in this respect is uncompromising.
  • Transparency and responsibility: we believe in communicating clearly and honestly, which is essential if we are to empower everyone and help them make more sustainable and informed choices.
  • Information and awareness: we are committed to raising awareness among our customers, partners and the general public regarding environmental and health issues, sustainable solutions and the need for a circular economy.

Working together towards a microplastic-free future.

We are not just a company; we are on a mission.
Natural Solutions to Microplastics is not just a motto, it’s a pledge to help build a future where nature, industry and innovation can coexist in harmony.

This is not merely an objective; it is something we are already working with others to bring about!

Pushing the boundaries of innovation to create an environmentally-friendly future

From university laboratory to manufacturing SME.

The Lactips adventure began in 2007, when Frédéric Prochazka, a lecturer and researcher at the University of Saint-Étienne, decided to investigate the potential of bio-based materials. In 2008, his research led to the creation of the first casein-based biodegradable pellets, laying the foundations for a major breakthrough.

In 2014, Frédéric joined forces with Marie-Hélène Gramatikoff to officially found Lactips (an anagram of Plastic), with a clear objective: to revolutionise the plastics industry.

After several years of development, organisation, fund-raising and a first production facility in a business incubator in the town of Saint-Jean-Bonnefonds (42), Lactips began manufacturing in 2022. With its new production plant located in Saint-Paul-en-Jarez (42), the company also took on a new CEO, Alexis von Tschammer.

Today, with a workforce of close to 50, Lactips has a clear vision as a company:

to push the boundaries of innovation in order to bring about a future free from plastic pollution, by combining cutting-edge scientific research with industrial drive.
