2026: A Focus on Impact and Agility

2026 Bertrand Dupeyroux - VP sales & marketing

As we enter 2026, we asked our VP Sales & Marketing to share his perspective on the past year, the evolution of the bioplastics market, and Lactips’ strategic priorities for the year ahead. An analysis of a market in transition, shaped by regulatory constraints, economic pressures, and environmental urgency.

What assessment can we make of 2025 at Lactips?

“2025 was marked by a general slowdown in momentum around sustainability. In a tense economic context, many companies were forced to refocus their priorities, sometimes pushing environmental issues into the background. We are clearly facing a real shift in the center of gravity across the entire industry.

The gradual implementation of the PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) nevertheless reshuffled the deck. This new European regulation has compelled manufacturers to review, adjust, or even completely rethink their packaging roadmaps.
At Lactips, this context has reinforced the need to remain agile, adaptable, and pioneering, anticipating regulatory changes while continuing to deliver credible, high-performance industrial solutions.”

What does the bioplastics market look like in 2026?

“The global bioplastics market remains largely underrepresented today, accounting for less than 1% of total global plastic production, despite the emergence of several highly promising new players.

At the same time, the production of fossil-based plastics continues to grow at a very strong pace, with projections indicating a threefold increase by 2060. This massive growth inevitably leads to higher releases of microplastics into the environment, with direct impacts on the balance between the planet and the Living.

In light of this, stronger collective commitment is essential, at least at the European level. Bioplastics players must join forces to carry more weight, working hand in hand with brand owners and market players.
The objective is clear: to increase the volumes of bio-based materials, thereby lowering production costs and making these solutions more accessible and competitive on a large scale.”

How is Lactips adapting? What are the major projects for the year ahead?

“Let’s be clear. We anticipated these changes and have already adapted.

To meet market expectations while remaining true to its DNA, Lactips has chosen to focus its resources on three strategic areas:

A key solution addressing the rapidly growing reuse market, targeting both local authorities and consumers. Bio-based and biodegradable water-soluble labels facilitate container washing and traceability, while ensuring controlled end-of-life management without polluting residues.

Designed for primary and secondary packaging, these materials deliver performance, safety, and recyclability, while reducing environmental impact by replacing fossil-based plastic layers with a natural material, making paper packaging a truly plastic-free solution.

Applications where managing microplastics in soils and natural environments is a critical issue, and for which Lactips offers biodegradable alternatives.

These markets are fully aligned with Lactips’ mission and directly support the 3R strategy: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, whether in product end-of-life management, packaging recyclability, or the reduction of diffuse pollution.

At the same time, the company is strengthening its Research & Innovation division to continue anticipating future uses and remain at the forefront of its technological expertise.”

And to meet us in 2026… see you at the trade shows!

“This year once again, Lactips will be exhibiting at several major industry events, including CFIA, LuxePack, and ReUse Economy Expo.Feel free to come and meet our teams to discuss packaging challenges, bioplastics, and the fight against microplastic pollution.”
